In May 2005 some pupils of "Signorina Tortora", for to celebrate her memory, but also for revive her teaching, have created the 1th Piano Competition "Lia Tortora" that it has performed in the field of the Music Day organized from Istituto Magistrale A. Manzoni of Latina.

In these years the Competition a lot has put up, with Italian and foreign pianists more and more numerous and prepared, to many of they it has given the possibility to exhibit in concerts in which they have collected much success.

The Competition provides for the participation of Italian and foreign pianists without age limits and it is divided in two sections (piano soloist and piano four hands) and various categories for age brackets. In the field of section piano soloist, to the young pianists of not advanced age the ten years the "Prize Carla Morgante" is reserved. She was a pupil of Lia Tortora and a piano teacher.

For to emphasize the memory and the importance of the teacher which she has been Lia Tortora, to the teachers who will have two students classified to the first three places, an Honor Diploma will be given.

From the 2010 the Competition is moved to Città della Pieve (PG), the Umbrian small town where the "Signorina Tortora" loved to pass her free time and where the Association is moved.

The Competition, favorably received from the local Institutions, enjoys the sponsorship of the Comune di Città della Pieve, of the Provincia di Perugia and of the Regione Umbria.
